There is no specific place to farm gems. They are a random rare drop throughout the game.
That said the best way to accumulate them is by doing buried treasure runs, even when the treasures degrade to purples they will still drop gems.

Who's talking about gems? Ruby is not a gem... it's a rare material....
lellyville u should read the farming section and/or the search option
Rubys can be farmed in different places and r a rare drop, they can be farmed in Fow, UW or against Djinns (There r some more i guess)... Good Luck

I've seen them drop in FoW, UW, from Hulking Stone Elementals, Fire Imps and Shambling Mesa. You can also salvage them from Ruby and Jeweled Daggers or from Ruby Djinn Essence.

Really, what is the chance a geode will salvage into a "gem"? I have a stack of them I was keeping in case I need a set of collector items, not sure I want to waste them all for dust or whatever else they turn into just yet, unless the chances are good.
The bunch of beetles just NW of the Grand Court are the most accessible I know of, using my 55 monk I can kill the ele`s without trying but not the ranger ones (not yet anyway, never had a reason to but maybe..) and geodes seemed to be the main drop in HM.

600 hp duo can farm those. Geode doesnt drop so often, but salvaging it grants rare materials sometimes.
